The number of complaints submitted to WIPO under the Uniform Domain Dispute Resolution Policy in 2022 reached a record high

During the outgoing year, 5,616 complaints were filed with the arbitration of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) under the Uniform Domain Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP). This was reported by the Atlas VPN service, citing data from WIPO itself. This figure is a record for the entire existence of the UDRP policy, approved in 1999.

However, this is no longer surprising: since 2016, every year has become a record for the number of complaints filed. Rather rapid growth deserves attention: compared to the previous year, the number of complaints increased by almost 10%. In total, for the period from 2000 to 2022, the arbitration of the World Intellectual Property Organization accepted 61,284 complaints under the UDRP, and their number increased by 202% compared to 2000. However, it should be remembered that these figures do not reflect the overall situation: the World Intellectual Property Organization is only one of several instances that deal with complaints under the Uniform Domain Dispute Resolution Policy.
