Boris Becker's Prison Number is Registered as a Domain Name

Boris Becker, a well-known German tennis player in the past, gave an interview to the Sat 1. The six-time Grand Slam champion, former No.1 tennis player in the world, and past Olympic champion is facing a difficult time. Earlier this year, he was convicted of tax evasion and sentenced to two and a half years in prison in the UK. However, already in December, Becker was released under an amnesty.

After returning to his homeland, Boris Becker spoke in an interview about the hardships of imprisonment. In particular, he mentioned that he feared for his life under threat by another inmate because of a conflict. In addition, Becker uttered the phrase: “In prison, you are a nobody. You are just a number. Mine was A2923EV.” This statement had unexpected consequences for the domain market: shortly after the interview was published, the registration of the domain name A2923EV.com became known. The registrant's data is hidden by privacy settings, it is only known that he is a resident of Germany. He also registered, with a high degree of probability, the domain names A2923EV.org and A2923EV.de.

It cannot be ruled out that the domains were registered by one of Becker's fans or just enterprising domain investors. But the Domain Gang, reporting this news, puts forward a different version. The financial affairs of the former tennis player are now in a deplorable state. And the release of a book of memoirs of a world sports star about life behind bars would certainly help to rectify the situation. And the domains that match the jail number can be great for advertising the book. Accordingly, it is likely that Boris Becker himself or one of his agents registered the domain names.
