Ural college students learn internet safety basics

The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, with support of the Academy of Innovative Education and Development, held a series of lecture for Ural college students as part of the Safe Childhood Information Environment project. On April 1-2, Coordination Center Project Manager Yevgeny Pankov held lectures on cybersecurity for students of the Khokhryakov Kopeisk Polytechnic College and the Chelyabinsk Law College. The lectures focused on security in the domain industry. Yevgeny provided statistics on the main types of offenses on the internet, focusing especially on one of the main trends of internet fraud: phishing.

Using the Domain Patrol project as an example, Yevgeny carried out a detailed analysis of fraudulent schemes, showing how scammers operate and how to deal with it. At the end of the lecture, students were also able to test their knowledge of internet technologies using Explore the Internet & Govern It, an interactive project developed by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ with the support of Rostelecom and aimed at increasing the level of digital literacy among schoolchildren and students.

In addition to this, on April 3 Yevgeny Pankov took part in the 6th Fly! School Education Forum, held on April 1-3 in Ufa (Bashkortostan). This year, children took part in the forum along with teachers and representatives of relevant departments for the first time.

The final day of the forum was the most eventful, with nine discussion platforms organized on this day. During the section “Social design as one of the ways to prevent destructive behavior in children and adolescents,” Yevgeny Pankov spoke about the Coordination Center’s educational projects: the Explore the Internet & Govern It project and the Explore the Internet School of Mentors, and also conducted an online quiz for forum participants.
