On February 24-25, the Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association is holding its 79th conference online. Experts from the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ are participating in the virtual meeting.
The participants in the section Marketing: SMM Practices and the Registry’s Website Turbocharging discussed issues related to ccTLD marketing, boosting website visibility and effectiveness, as well as SMM approaches. The list of speakers included representatives of the following ccTLDs: .IN (India), .LK (Sri Lanka), .NZ (New Zealand), .VN (Vietnam), and .PH (Philippines), among others. The participants described how they approach marketing campaigns on social media, features of special events for users and ways to increase website conversion.
Irina Pyzhova, editor-in-chief of the Coordination Center’s website, and Maria Kolesnikova, the center’s chief analyst, talked about the Coordination Center’s web projects and work on social media.
For example, last year the Media Center section was among the most active, with over 380 news pieces published about the Coordination Center and the global domain industry, and 900 industry experts and journalists from Russia and abroad subscribed to its updates. Translators quickly translate all articles into English, using a large glossary that covers all the main topics of the domain industry.
“It is important for a ccTLD registry to develop its website in the national language as well as in English. This makes it possible to update our foreign colleagues on registry news and speed up the exchange of experience and the best practices,” Irina Pyzhova stressed.
The Coordination Center is also active on social media: it runs pages on Facebook, VKontakte, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. In 2020, the center published 329 posts and 25 videos about news and its events, as well as the results of its ongoing projects, research and coronavirus domain monitoring, among other things. Moreover, the Coordination Center created the growing Точка .RU/.РФ product page on Facebook and VKontakte, with 106 posts and 12 videos published last year sharing useful tips on domain registration, use and cybersecurity, plus answers to users’ most frequently asked questions. Over the year, the number of followers has grown by more than a third: about 2,000 people follow the Точка .RU/.РФ Facebook page, and more than 900 are subscribed on VKontakte.
