By the end of August, the Russian ccTLD .RU had outrun both .EU and .CN and ranks 4th in the global ccTLD ranking. It is the acknowledged leaders that remained ahead of ccTLD .RU- namely, national domains of Germany .DE (14,572,913 domain names), United Kingdom .UK (9,627,873 domain names) and the Netherlands .NL (4,641,578 domain names). By the end of August, domain .RU boasted of 3,412,266 registered domain names.
China’s ccTLD, which a year ago was #3 in the global ranking with 7-plus million domain names, has slipped to the 5th position: by the end of August . CN shrank to 3,345,906 registered domain names.
The other Russian ccTLD, .РФ, has demonstrated spectacular growth rates in August: it added 1.8%, or as many as 15,371 registered domain names. By the end of August, domain .РФ boasted of 886,239 registered domain names.
